Wish to visit Hattiangadi ? First decide and determine to visit your ancestral village and offer prayers to presiding deity Lord Shankarnaraya.

You can visit other temples of fame like Shri Siddhi Vinayaka. Shri Marala Devi, Shri Lokanatheshwara, Shri Krishna and Shri Shivamuneshwara Temple. Staying at Hattiangadi, you could cover Kollur and other religious places and tourist destinations of interest.

Lord Shri Shankarnarayana is the deity of Hattiangadikars of Vatsya Gotra.

THE JOURNEY

By Road .....

BUS:

From Mangalore/Kundapura:    Take buses going North  for Byndoor, Alight at  TALLUR about 3 km to the North after Kundapura stop. From TALLUR you can take an Auto Riksha to Hattiangadi which is 4 km from Tallur to the South-East.( Fare Rs. 35/- )

From Byndoor:   Heading South,  take a  bus for Kundapura/Mangalore, Alight at TALLUR about 20 km South of Byndoor. From TALLUR you can take an  Auto Riksha to Hattiangadi .

TAXI:

From Kundapur you can take an Auto or Taxi to Hattiangadi, distance is about 7 km. ( Auto Rs. 50/-, Taxi Rs. 100/- ) 

CAR:

If you are traveling  by your own vehicle, travel by NH 17 towards Kundapur  then at Tallur ( some 60 km South of Shirali,  20 km  South of Byndoor, or 110 km North of Mangalore on NH 17 )  you will have to turn to East. Then immediately after the Konkan Railway Bridge turn Right/South at the Maha Dwara of Shri Sidhi Vinayaka Temple (about 2 km from NH 17 off Tallur). The Road will directly take you to Hattiangadi. From this point Hattiangadi is about 2 km to the South East.

The road winds through scenic area, you can see the majestic Western Ghats to the East and Varhi estuary, Kundapur and Cashew plantation on the West and South West. 

TRAIN:

If you are traveling by Train alight at Kundapura and from there you can take a pre arranged Taxi to Hattiangadi (courstey service)  (you will have to inform your travel plans in advance to Dr Ashok Kundapur, email arkundapur@yahoo.com, 'Kalashree', Hayagreva Nagar, Udupi 576 102, Ph. 0820-2575526. OR to Sri Ajith Bhat, Shri Gopalakrishna Temple, Hattiangadi, Ph. 08254-264252 ) Or go over to Kundapura Town through local Bus/Auto and from there follow above mentioned directions to Hattiangadi.

STAY :

At Hattiangadi you can stay at Shri Shankarnaraya Temple, or with our Archak Sri Ajith Bhat at their family Temple Shri Gopalakrishna Temple. Sri Ajith Bhat and family would be delighted to play host to you.

Shri Sidhhi Vinayaka Temple has some guest rooms available for nominal fee. For meals you can rely and request Sri Ajith Bhat to make necessary arrangements.

Alternatively, you may prefer to stay at a Hotel (with A/C rooms if you prefer) at Kundapur, there are many nice hotels along the Highway junction.

If you time your visit during Ashtamy,( Aug-Sept) you can stay at Shri Shankarnarayana Temple along with us and take part in the daily chores of Pooja and Bhajans of Ashtamy.
