C/o Shri Shankarnarayana Temple,
On the banks of gently flowing river Varahi, amidst swaying palms and lush green paddy fields lies our ancestral village of Hattiangadi. In this picturesque village our ancestors had built Sri Shankarnarayana Temple some 400 years ago.
Gently flowing river Varahi amidst swaying palms
Sri Shankarnarayana Temple at Hattiangadi has had a glorious past, steeped in religious tradition.
Presiding deity Lord Shankarnarayana
This temple is also known as Gosavi Matha, because of its association with poet saint Sri Ramavallabh Das of Maharastra. Sri Gangadhar Das one of his disciples settled down here some three hundred and sixty years ago, to spread the message of Krishna Bhakti. Ever since then the Gokulashtamy Vritha is being observed without a break, as per the dictions laid down by the revered saint Sri Ramavallabh Das.
One Idol of Lord Krishna given to our ancestors by the revered Saint
By the grace of the Lord , all the rituals and festivals such as, Shivarathri, Gokulashtamy, Hari-jagara during Ashvayuja, Kartik Deepotsava, are being performed without a hitch, and more important, without a break for over three and a half centuries.
These viniyogas and upkeep of the temple are being managed by a handful of devotees. Ever eroding Economy is putting a severe strain on their resources. Added to this the Bank interest too has being slashed. This is a cause of worry.

To alleviate the situation, and to generate a perpetual source of income, and
also provide additional facilities for the devotees who participate during
the Ashtamy
Vritha , it has been proposed to construct a Kalyana Mantapa. and a couple of
rooms to be let out for religious functions and Marriages of residents of
neighboring Villages ( Hattikudru, Gulvady,
Tallur, Basrur ) who are in dire need of such a facility. But as the response for our appeal was not so encouraging, the committee has decided to shelve the proposal. In stead, it has been decided to raise adequate amount of funds to be deposited suitably, to generate adequate amount of interest to run the religious functions at the shrine and also for maintenance.
The total target for the proposed
stabilization fund would be around Rupees. 15,00,000/-.
We the Trustees of the Temple earnestly solicit your active
participation in this noble venture with your generous contribution.
